I could almost hear Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus" in the background...

I first saw Earle's Delicatessen when my folks asked me to buy lettuce in South Supermarket on my way to visit them a few weeks ago. I saw their stand and I fell in love.

Hungarian sausage, Thuringer Bratwurst, Italian pastrami, Canadian Back Bacon, Maple Smoked Ham, Kielbasa, Smoked Chicken Roast...

Hello, my dear dead friends. I've missed you.

Though the groceries in Metro Manila have extended their meats section beyond the horribly artificial red hotdogs, these imported meats are still too expensive. Case in point would be the Euro-Swiss (?) brand--2 small pieces would cost you about P120 compared to 2 big pieces for P100 at Earle's!

Then Earle came into my life. They can keep costs down because they produce these wonderful dead friends of mine in the Philippines by using local meats and spices. Reverse Sausage Engineering, if you will.

The Bufra and I've tried the Bavarian Cheesy Smokies and the Thuringer Bratwurst, respectively. Heavenly.

So Bufra bought around P600 worth of meat. Yum.
